No More Cabinet Doors!!! Ever!!

I am channeling my inner Mommy Dearest.  I have cabinets above my refrigerator that I never used.  Ever.  If I had anything on top of the frig--and let's face it  I do--I would have to move it all just to be able to open the doors.  I knew that I could use that space for storage but the way it was set up, I was using it to store things I never used.  So I found some super cool old locker baskets at my Habitat Re-Store (my love).  They sat in my craft room for at least a month (hanging my head in shame).  I just couldn't figure out where I wanted to use them.  I wanted them to be seen but still functional.  They are far too cool to hide away in some closet or back room or closed cabinet.  Light bulb moment inserted here.  Rip off those stupid cabinet doors!  So I did.

They didn't quite fill the space so I added some little vases and fake greenery.  That's right.  I used fake greenery and I'm proud of it.  (sorry for the blurry pics)

I made these cute tags out of chipboard and painted them with chalkboard paint.  I am storing my paper towels, candles, and vases in the baskets.  Not things I need all the time but things that are handy to have accessible in a flash.  It really changed the whole look of the kitchen and I love it!!  It even inspired me to clean off the refrigerator.  Wonders never cease!!

I know.  I have to fill in those holes.  I wish I could say I'll run right in and do that now.  I won't.  It will be weeks before that is a priority.
